Inlets – 4/29
Inlets and Yellow Ostrich ensorcelled. Yes, that’s a word. And there’s really no other word fit to describe the power of Thursday night’s intimate show at Gates of Heaven.
Yellow Ostrich, jettisoning the state to become an aspiring Brooklyn denizen, delighted us with looping melodies and woozy guitar backdrops, culminating in “Whale” and a cover of The Replacements’ “Androgynous” that had the crowd eating out of the palm of his hand. Inlets pulled the crowd in closer with a come-hither in the form of subtle guitar flourishes of Sebastian Krueger (himself already a Brooklyn by way of Madison resident) complimented by understated drumming and harmonic work from his 3 band members. It was a cozy, cool and comforting.
